What Is A Social Enterprise

Her Handwork is a social enterprise based in Melbourne, Australia.

A social enterprise is a business that is cause-driven, aims to solve social challenges while simultaneously providing goods or services.

*In Australia, there is no legal structure called social enterprise but the Victorian Government defines social enterprises as organisations that:

- are driven by public or community cause
- derive most of their income from trade, not donations or grants
- use majority of their profits to work towards their social mission

Her Handwork is self sustaining. I do not ask for donations or grants to run this social enterprise.

Profits are NOT the primary motivation behind Her Handwork but revenue still plays an important role in sustaining the business venture.

Funds generated through the sale of Fairtrade jewellery or items handmade by myself get reinvested into my social mission.
